USB Pin Layout

Typically the order of the pins is RED, WHITE, GREEN, BLACK, with the RED wire being the 5v Vcc power signal. If you use a digital multimeter or Volt/Ohm meter to measure the voltages of each pin and locate the two 5v pins, then you can figure out the placement of the wires based on the information below. Make certain that you connect the RED wire to the 5v DC pin. Incorrectly connecting the RED wire will cause damage to the cable and/or the motherboard and the USB controller will no longer work properly.
